Stonewall Kitchen
I love to cook. Generally, I prefer my cooking to generate OHHHs and AHHHS and have always loved a great short cut when it does not compromise quality. I have found my secret recipe for success – Stonewall Kitchen. I had seen Stonewall Kitchen products in many stores and specialty shops throughout New England, and have been in to several of their eight factory stores and of course online, but until you experience the whole concept at the main Stonewall Kitchen and Cafe factory store in York you are missing something in your culinary exploits.Let us begin with the Stonewall Kitchen Cafe. The cafe is open Monday thru Saturday 8 — 6 Sunday 9 – 6 for take out and Monday thru Saturday 11-3, Sunday Brunch 10-3 for Bistro service, an experience in taste palette heaven. Breakfast starts with specialty coffees and teas, fresh fruits, buttery croissants, sticky buns, and freshly made melt in your mouth quiche or Frittata to name a few. Lunch at Stonewall Kitchen offers soups and Maine chowders to compliment Lobster Rolls, vegetarian and traditional wraps and sandwiches. They also offer a children’s menu that is sure to please.
I have not had the privilege of Brunch at the Cafe, but one look at the menu with Lobster Pie, Linze
r Waffles, Lobster BLT, Caesar Salads and more, make me want to plan my next visit to Maine around Brunch at Stonewall.
The prices at the Cafe run a bit higher than a standard lunch fare, however, the atmosphere, freshness, and quality of the food make the prices more than reasonable. The service is that of a culinary institute and done correctly. This is the perfect place to meet the girls for lunch, take Mom for a special occasion, or a great date lunch venue. I took the family (they are all twenty-something-year-olds and enjoyed the great food and interesting browsing).
But your experience at Stonewall Kitchen has just begun. “Stonewall Kitchen’s reputation has been built by consistently creating items of the highest quality in the most exciting flavor profiles.” It started in 1991 in a kitchen in Hampton NH, and in 1995 moved just over the border into southern Maine. Stonewall Kitchen has received national recognition for its Sauces, Spreads, Dips, Dessert Sauces, Pancake Mixes, Condiments, Jams, Marmalades, and Savories. Throughout the store you can sample some of the fine products offered. They also feature a very large and exclusive selection of kitchen needs, tools, gadgets, dinnerware, bakeware, glassware, and cookbooks. Their classic product of the month is always offered at 10% savings.e
Allow yourself time when you visit Stonewall Kitchen. Take a moment to walk over to visit the Production Department to view the manufacturing process. In between meals, have a cup of tea and a scone. During the better weather outdoor seating is available. I consider this an adult adventure. Visit them Stonewall Kitchen online to stock up in-between visits to this tasty Maine destination.
