Although overshadowed by its larger neighbor Sunday River, Mount Abram has a lot to offer. It has a cozy family feel to it. With 42 trails and a vertical of over 1,000 feet, it does offer some variety. There are two nice advanced cruisers down either side of the main chairlift, Boris Badenov and Fearless Leader, that are very similar to Sunday River’s Right Stuff and Monday Mourning. There are also a couple of challenging trails such as Rocky’s Run.
There is a separate beginners’ area and a large concentration of intermediate runs all over the mountain. If you’re looking for a nice-sized, value-oriented ski mountain with something for the whole family Mount Abram is an excellent choice. Don’t want to ski? Try the 1325′ Tubing Park (the longest in Maine!), or the cross-country loop through the woods. Mount Abram has all the amenities including full rentals and expert instruction in the latest techniques for alpine and telemark skiing and snowboarding, a daycare center, two base lodges (with shuttle service in between), a restaurant, and a bar with live entertainment. Take I-95 (Maine Turnpike) to Exit 63 for US-202/ME-115/ME-4.
Take Route 26 North from Gray for 45 miles.
Turn left onto Howe Hill Rd.
Mount Abram Ski Resort is on your right.
