The Portland Pirates Hockey Team is in the American Hockey League. Portland Pirates is the top affiliate of the Florida Panthers (NHL). Prior to this the Pirates have been affiliated with several other NHL teams including; the Washington Capitals, the Anaheim Ducks and the Buffalo Sabres. They replaced the Maine Mariners in 1993 and won the Calder Cup in their first season.
