East Coast Surfing: Maine’s Long Sands Beach
Surfing in Maine is easier than ever. Surfers can now surf a wider section of Longsands Beach. Longsands is becoming increasingly popular as a surfing destination. It’s a short walk from the road to the ocean’s edge and the surf is usually pretty good – especially on stormy days.

Long Sands Beach
A 1.5-mile sandy beach with metered parallel parking along its entire length. Surfing is allowed in designated areas. Handicap-accessible beach with ramps and public restrooms. Raft and beach umbrella rentals. Trolley service available. Shops and food are within walking distance. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Views of Hubble Light and Boone Lighthouse. Check out the local resorts, York inns, hotels, and restaurants.
Some other great spots to catch a ride in Maine are Scarborough Beach, Kennebunk Beach, Higgins Beach, Goose Rocks and Ogunquit Rivermouth. To the North try out Crescent Beach, Pemaquid Point, Popham Beach, and Hermits.
